Is 12 weeks enough to train for HYROX?
Gym FAQs › Fitness classes
Yes, 12 weeks is enough for most people who already exercise regularly to prepare for and finish a HYROX race. Complete beginners may want 16 weeks or more to build a running base first. The key is steady progress in both running and the functional stations, without doing too much too soon.
A simple 12 week structure
- Weeks 1 to 4: build your running base and learn the station movements
- Weeks 5 to 8: add strength and longer mixed workouts that combine running and stations
- Weeks 9 to 11: race-pace sessions and full or half race simulations
- Week 12: ease off to arrive fresh on race day
Common mistakes
Many people train the stations and forget the 8km of running, or run a lot and struggle with the sled. Train both, practise running straight after a station, and build in rest days so you stay injury-free.
